"I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" Jesus John 10:10b
Do you know the reason Jesus came to this world was so that mankind could have eternal life?
Many feel He came to be an example for us. And He was.
Others feel He came to teach us a better way. And He did.
Still others find Him to be some kind of Holy Man. He was that too.
But ultimately He came to die in our place. For the bible teaches us:
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. -Romans 6:23.
This means we have a payday coming that we may not be happy with the wages we have earned. Death means not only physical death, but eternal separation from God, in hell.
Many are certain that God will judge each of us on a curve or in complete mercy. But if we look at what the bible says about it we learn from Acts 17:30-31
"Although God overlooked the ignorance of earlier times, He now commands all men everywhere to repent because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead."
So we can see that God has been patient with us up until now. But we can expect Him to judge us not in leniency or forgetfulness, but righteousness.
Therefore we must be found righteous by God's standard. The only way that is possible is to be forgiven by Jesus Christ and washed in His blood from our sins. Since the wages of sin is death, someone had to die for our sin. We can each die for it or Jesus could. If we could be forgiven and paid for any other way way then He died in vain and we could have just found another way to get to heaven. Even if good works or religious systems could have worked, then Jesus died in vain.
So who will die for your sins? You? Or will you ask Jesus to come and apply His death to your account. That way when you stand before God in judgment you will be found forgiven and spotless because Christ washed away and paid for your sin.
Ask Him to forgive you today and let us know about your decision!
